HARRISBURG – Applause, a sampler of what is in store this year in Central Pennsylvania performing arts, takes place from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center theatre on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
With Harrisburg Symphony maestro Stuart Malina as host, performers from the symphony, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Gamut Theatre Group, Open Stage of Harrisburg and Theatre Harrisburg will present short pieces from their 2011-12 seasons.
Tickets are $10 and $5 for students and can be purchased through the box office of HACC’s Rose Lehrman Arts Center, 231-ROSE.
Members of the Harrisburg Symphony and the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet will perform two excerpts from Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals,” accompanied by Malina on the piano.
Gamut Theatre Group is the combined theatre company of Popcorn Hat Players Children’s Theatre and Harrisburg Shakespeare Company. Members will present excerpts from Harrisburg Shakespeare Company’s productions of "Poe: Much of Madness," Alan Zweibel’s "Bunny, Bunny," a sword fight demonstration from "Hamlet," and Popcorn Hat Players’ "Wonder Tales From Around the World."
Theatre Harrisburg will present a solo “Make Them Hear You” from the Broadway musical “Ragtime” and an ensemble piece with solos, “Show People” from “Curtains.”
Open Stage of Harrisburg will perform excerpts from its upcoming attractions.
Applause is a HACC Foundation community partnership event designed to strengthen the importance of the arts for a culturally enriching and thriving regional environment.
