Save $ with EPA’s Energy Star course at HACC

Workshop is introduction to commercial building energy efficiency

HARRISBURG – Find the savings that others miss with the EPA’s Energy Star techniques taught this fall at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
With 30 percent of the energy used in commercial buildings being wasted, energy efficiency improvements represent the fastest, cheapest and largest untapped solution for saving energy, lowering energy bills, and preventing greenhouse gas emissions.
This practical, hands-on 40-hour green course is for anyone interested in developing energy management understanding and skills for use in current or future workplaces. It is based on the federal Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Start curriculum, and will be offered 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 26-Nov. 23, at HACC’s Midtown 1, 1523 N. Fourth St. The cost is $760 per person.
Topics include EPA’s Energy Star program for commercial buildings, Energy Star guidelines for energy management, best energy efficiency practices, cost-effective energy saving measures and tracking energy savings and greenhouse gas emissions reductions with EPA’s portfolio manager.
