Dixon Foundation makes attending HACC more affordable for local residents

Apply by June 15 for tuition assistance grants for fall semester

LEBANON – Residents and students can reduce the cost of attending HACC’s Lebanon Campus with tuition assistance grants from the Dixon Foundation.
Students have until Friday, June 15, 2012, to apply for a tuition assistance grant from the Foundation, which does not require re-payment. First-year, full-time students are eligible for $1,000 a year. Second-year and part-time students also are eligible to apply for $500.
Rand Lapp of Lebanon, who graduated with an associate degree in business last December, was a tuition assistance grant recipient.
“I’m on a fixed income, and I worked part-time while going to HACC for four or five classes a semester,” said Lapp. “I was humbled and honored when I was chosen for the Dixon Foundation (grant). It meant a lot to know that someone sees the potential in me and thought I was a worthy recipient … that what they awarded me is going to a good cause.”
In order to apply, students need to fill out a tuition assistance grant application available at HACC’s Lebanon Campus, 735 Cumberland St., or online at www.hacc.edu/Lebanon. In addition, each applicant must write an essay explaining why the grant is needed.
To qualify, students must present proof of Lebanon County residency and be enrolled for classes at HACC’s Lebanon Campus.
HACC’s Lebanon Campus offers more than 30 degree, certificate and diploma programs. New for the fall are associate degrees in art and design and fine arts, and courses in English as a Second Language. Students also can complete general education requirements at the campus for the more than 180 programs available at HACC.
Fall classes begin Aug. 20, 2012. For further information, call the campus at 717-270-4222.
