(Information updated at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2012)

HARRISBURG – As a precaution, all day and evening classes and activities are cancelled today, Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at HACC’s Harrisburg Campus.

HACC Public Safety, in cooperation with Harrisburg Police, has identified a person of interest in connection with the abduction of a female student at the Harrisburg Campus on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.

"Approximately 2 p.m. today, Harrisburg Police apprehended a suspect who is in custody," said Todd Crawley, HACC's director of public safety. "HACC's Harrisburg Campus will operate on schedule on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012."

HACC students and employees were notified of the closure shortly before noon. The closure includes the adjacent Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center. It does not include Midtown, Campus Square or Penn Center.

“HACC Public Safety is committed to providing a safe and secure College environment but we need your help,” said Crawley. “Safety is a community effort. Please be aware of your surroundings at all times, and take extra precautions during the next few days.”

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
