
Gibbon worked as a high school teacher, a librarian at Gettysburg College and as the library director at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus and Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pa. In 2008, Gibbon was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and, in 2010, she retired from Shippensburg University.
“Drawing is physically rehabilitating and emotionally therapeutic,” said Gibbon. “Producing art makes me feel vital. Art and writing give me an occupation, a point of conversation and connection with others.”
“Structurally, I like to work with circles and find them literally in bowls, fans and windshield wipers,” said Gibbon. “But I also find circles described in empty places, in nature.”
