Hip-Hop Performed in ‘RHAW’-est Form at HACC’s Live at Rose Lehrman

Evening will include post-show chat with RHAW dancers

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Award-winning choreographer Rennie Harris presents “Love American Style,” a new hip-hop musical to be performed by RHAW, some of Harris' newest and brightest street dancers, at Live at Rose Lehrman on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.

Set to the sounds of Queen, Nirvana, Chicago and more, RHAW uses dance and dialogue to vividly tell the story of a teenage boy as he searches for love, identity and purpose.

RHAW will carry on the legacy of freedom displayed in street dance and will do so by using hip-hop & funk dance as a free expression, said Harris.

A talk with members of the Rennie Harris RHAW will immediately follow the show.

A free hip-hop dance workshop will also be offered by dancers of the company on Tuesday, March 18 from 6:30-8 p.m., in the J.W. Evans Physical Education Center Dance Studio on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus. Participants must be ages 12 and older, but no previous dance experience is required. The class size is limited and advance registration is required. Please call 717-780-2545 to register.

The show sponsors for RHAW are the Lois Lehrman Grass Foundation and abc27-TV. RHAW is partially supported by a grant from Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour, a program developed and funded by The Heinz Endowments; the William Penn Foundation; the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency; and The Pew Charitable Trusts; and administered by the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.
