HACC Foundation Allocations Committee Approves More Than $350,000 of Funding for Projects

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to raise private contributions in support of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, has approved more than $350,000 in funding for various projects. This funding is made possible through generous contributions from individual and organizational donors.

“There is no greater investment than in people,” said Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation. “We are grateful to our donors who selflessly give to provide opportunities for our students to grow and thrive in a competitive marketplace. A gift to the HACC Foundation is truly an investment in the future of our students.”

The funding from the HACC Foundation will be used to:

  1. Support HACC’s 50th anniversary events to engage potential and current students, faculty, staff, supporters and the community at large

  1. Preserve, establish, organize and create digital archives for the College

  1. Update diagnostic medical sonography ultrasound system and transducers

  1. Provide Rapid Prototype Machines (3-D printers) through the TE Connectivity Foundation for HACC’s mechanical engineering technology and engineering transfer program

  1. Expand laptop project to provide students who are currently enrolled at one of HACC’s campuses the ability to apply for a short-term College laptop loan


 Computer Maintenance Fund

  1. Provide innovative training courses in partnership with the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations at the Shumaker Public Safety Center


 Public Safety Center Program and Development Endowment

  1. Enable HACC’s Electronics Engineering Program to host a day-long robotics competition at HACC’s Midtown II for teams from area high schools, as well as PennState Harrisburg

  1. Provide access to up-to-date Alaris Infusion Pump technology to HACC nursing students

  1. Invest in the new and responsive web design

  1. Provide financial assistance for membership of 40 HACC students to the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Alpha Nu Omega Chapter

  1. Fund the creation of lectures in Humanities to honor HACC’s 50th anniversary

  1. Support the purchase of an online subscription to “The Legal Intelligencer” and “PA Law Weekly” for the Harrisburg and Lancaster campuses of HACC

  1. Purchase 21 webcams for the Midtown II lab for HACC’s web development and design students

About HACC Foundation

The HACC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 1985 to raise private and corporate revenues in support of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College. The HACC Foundation endowment consists of more than 295 funds totaling over $29 million, making the HACC Foundation one of the wealthiest community college foundations in the nation. In fiscal year 2011-12 alone, the HACC Foundation contributed close to $2.2 million to the College in scholarships, special programs and facilities and provided financial assistance to 1,067 students.


Contributions to the HACC Foundation are accepted in the form of unrestricted gifts to augment endowed funds, contributions to existing or new scholarship programs or award funds, support for academic and workforce programs, sponsorship of special events and cultural programs and contributions made in honor or in memory of individuals. In addition, the Foundation holds annual events, including the Frank J. Dixon Tournament for Scholarships, and various scholarship award ceremonies.
