Employees and students from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, participated in Project Homeless Connect on Nov. 20, 2015, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center. Held annually by the Capital Area Coalition on Homelessness (CACH), Project Homeless Connect assembles over 70 organizations, agencies, churches and charities to match homeless men, women and children to crucial services and housing assistance. During the one-day event, students from HACC’s Human Services Program served as ambassadors for the homeless men, women and children. HACC’s students connected the guests with the organization(s) that can help meet the guests’ needs. The organizations offered flu shots, glucose screenings and haircuts as well as services related to:
- Dental care
- Health care
- Housing
- Meals and food distribution
- Mental health connections and drug and alcohol referrals
- Pet care
- Social Security

HACC’s Lebanon Campus to Offer Two In-Demand Programs in 2016
In early 2016, the Lebanon Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will offer the popular Physician Office Assistant and Pharmacy Technician Programs.
The Physician Office Assistant program trains students to work in the front office of both primary care and specialty practices or in a contact call center. HACC's program:
- Can be completed in as little as 12 weeks
- Includes 172 hours of lecture and 160 hours of practicum
- Costs $2,950, which includes textbooks
- Starts Feb. 1, 2016, and is held Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Can be completed in seven months
- Includes 114 hours of lecture
- Requires attendance two evenings per week
- Costs $2,325
- Starts Jan. 20, 2016
HACC Foundation Appoints New Board Members
The HACC Foundation has appointed Budd Hallberg and Brianna Neil as new Board members. Hallberg’s three-
year term ends June 30, 2018, and Neil’s term as a student Board member ends May 31, 2016.Hallberg, an adjunct faculty member at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus since 2005, previously served as president of SCAN Management Inc. for 22 years. During that time, he provided compliance and litigation consultant services to the commodity and financial futures industry. Additionally, he has served on the Zoning Hearing Board of Mount Joy Township since 2012. Hallberg received a bachelor’s degree from The University of the State of New York and a master’s degree from Goddard College.
Neil, an administrative assistant at Boyer & Ritter LLC since December 2013, is a HACC student. While studying to achieve her associate degree, she has been on HACC’s Dean’s List regularly; is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; served as chair of HACC’s Virtual Learning Student Advisory Council; and served as Shared Governance Policy chair for HACC. Neil is also affiliated with the Young Professionals group of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce. After graduating from HACC, Neil plans to transfer to Shippensburg University to earn a bachelor’s degree.Note to editor: Image and caption available at newsroom.hacc.edu.
