ADVISORY: HACC to Hold Fall Commencement Ceremony on Dec. 15 at Giant Center

HARRISBURG, Pa. -

Note to editor: Please see parking information below.

WHO: More than 800 students from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will graduate and receive associate degrees, diplomas or certificates.

The student speaker for the ceremony is Jennifer Marie Ostroff of Adams County. Ostroff, a member of HACC’s Alpha Nu Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and the Student Government Association at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus, will receive her associate degree in humanities, languages and the arts. She plans to continue her education and would ultimately like to earn an MFA in screenwriting.
WHAT: HACC’s fall 2015 Commencement ceremony

WHEN: Dec. 15, 2015, at 6 p.m.
WHERE: Giant Center
550 W. Hersheypark Drive
Hershey, PA 17033

COVERAGE: HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D., will confer degrees, diplomas and certificates to HACC students.

Brianna Neil is one of the hundreds of students who will walk across the stage to accept her diploma; however, she has one more class to complete.

HACC agreed to allow the 33-year old Chambersburg resident to walk because she is expecting her fourth child in spring 2016.

“HACC has made it possible for me to achieve my academic goals,” said Neil.

The business administration major attended the majority of her classes online, because she would not have been able to attend classes in the traditional classroom.

Neil is a recipient of HACC Foundation scholarships, the student member of the HACC Foundation Board and the Virtual Learning Student Advisory Council Chair representing over 6,000 online students at HACC.

Also, because of Neil’s academic and community service, she’s been nominated to the All-USA Community College Academic Team competition and awarded a full-ride scholarship from Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) to attend Shippensburg University.
