HACC Elects New Members to Board of Trustees

HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, elected Jonathan Bowser, James Grandon and Elizabeth Knouse to the Board of Trustees.

Jonathan Bowser, chief executive officer of the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation, was elected to the Board of Trustees during the 2016 election. He is currently the chair of the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region. Bowser serves on the board of directors of the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) and the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts. He is also a member of the Susquehanna County Township Planning Commission. Formerly, he served on the board of directors and held the positions of chairman and president for the Broad Street Market Corporation. He was a board member for the West Shore Chamber of Commerce as well as the Greater Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce. Bowser holds a master’s degree in business administration (strategic leadership) from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland.

James Grandon, the owner of Grandon Real Estate and former owner of Jack Gaughen Realtor, was elected after having served four years as chairman of the HACC Foundation Board of Directors. He is currently chair of the education committee of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Board of Education and chairman emeritus of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. Grandon is also a board member with the PinnacleHealth Foundation, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and Boy Scouts of America. His community and business leadership roles include membership on BNY Mellon’s corporate board of directors, the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission and the board of the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, where he chaired the building committee.

Elizabeth Knouse is director of morale, welfare and recreation for the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, and Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, Pennsylvania. She has served on the board of directors of United Way and the Downtown Carlisle Association. Knouse has served on the strategic planning committee of Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School as well. She spent 11 years on the board of directors of South Middleton School District and was board president for four years. In 2015, she was honored by The Central Penn Business Journal as one of Central Pennsylvania’s Top 25 Women of Influence. She was also recognized by South Middleton School District as a 2016 Outstanding Alumnus. A former HACC student, Knouse is currently working toward a master’s degree in organizational communication from West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, where she previously earned a bachelor’s degree. She also holds associate and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Pacific University, Forest Grove, Oregon.
