HACC Announces Winners in 2018 High School Mathematics Contest

Competition at three HACC campuses includes 26 local high schools
 


HARRISBURG, Pa. – Hempfield High School finished first in the 28th annual high school mathematics contest at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. Students Cherie Chen of Lancaster Catholic High School and David Taglieri of Spring Grove High School tied for the individual first-place award.

The competition was held April 20, 2018, using interactive video at HACC’s Harrisburg, Lancaster and Gettysburg campuses. The students completed a series of mathematical problems coordinated by HACC’s math faculty. They had to calculate answers working as a team, individually and in relays.

Team awards also went to Lancaster Catholic High School, which placed second, and Spring Grove High School, which placed third.

In addition to the two first-place individual winners, the remaining top 10 finishers with the highest scores and their high schools were:
