The showcase will feature the traditional and contemporary interpretations of Pennsylvania craftsmen who create these very traditional vessels, said Jessica Lantz, curator of arts and assistant manager of Radius.
“Several Radius craftsmen already have ikebana vessels in the shop" said Lantz. "We are hoping this showcase educates our visitors on what ikebana is and how the vessels can be used.”
HACC will host an open house 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 4.
Each weekend throughout the Showcase Series a new flower arrangement, created by members of the local chapter of Ikebana International, will be on display. From 1-3 p.m. Sunday, June 15, chapter members will present an Ikebana demonstration and discussion about the history of the art form, what makes a good vessel and how to make a proper ikebana arrangement.
The Radius Showcase Series continues throughout the year, featuring Jewelry Brooches, Bottles and Creative Kitchen. Pennsylvania craftsmen are invited to submit their work that can be featured.
