WHEN: Dec. 18, 2018, at 6 p.m.

COVERAGE: HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D., will confer degrees, diplomas and certificates to HACC students.

Among the graduates is student speaker Alexa Taylor Groft of East Berlin, Pennsylvania. She is graduating with an associate degree in early childhood-elementary education from HACC’s Gettysburg Campus.

“HACC has made a difference in my life because it has allowed me to fulfill my dream of becoming an elementary teacher. HACC has allowed me to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. I was able to serve as the president of the Student Government Association and serve as the co-liaison of the Alpha Nu Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at the Gettysburg Campus. These experiences and the relationships that I have with my peers, faculty and staff makes HACC my second home,” said Groft.

She was named to the 2018 All-PA Academic Team, receiving a full scholarship to complete her bachelor’s degree. She plans to attend Millersville University and major in early childhood education and continue on to earn her doctorate in education.

Through her strong community involvement, Groft was named the 2018 YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County Exceptional Young Woman.

The Commencement ceremony sponsor is AAA Central Penn.
