The HACC Foundation Makes a Difference!

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The HACC Foundation recently provided funding for key projects at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and welcomed four new Board members.
 
Key Projects Recently Funded
The HACC Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises private contributions in support of HACC, approved more than $587,000­­­ for projects at the College.

This funding is made possible through generous contributions from individual and organizational donors.
 

The HACC Foundation recently funded the following projects:

Purpose of HACC Foundation Funding Benefit to Students and College Funded Amount
Dental Clinic Renovation Funding will support renovating the dental clinic on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus. The renovation will assist in keeping the clinic functioning to federally mandated requirements for a paperless office and provide students an education that focuses on best practices in the use of technology, equipment and procedures to prepare them to work in any dental office. $501,000
TE Connectivity Apprenticeship Program Funding will support the establishment of a new Tool and Die Apprenticeship Program and offset tuition costs for students enrolled in the program at HACC. $33,000
Secondary Live Fire Training Simulation Area Funding will support a secondary live fire training simulation area at the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Training Center. The area will allow coordinators and instructors to expand the current program offerings and develop new programs emphasizing the special features available in the new simulator.  $17,100
Harrisburg Promise STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Summer Camp Funding will support an engaging and hands-on STEAM summer camp experience for Harrisburg Promise students. Early exposure to STEAM will (1) help spark future career interests, (2) introduce students to the academic content and rigor needed to find a job in these fields and (3) offer students an opportunity to leave their comfort zones, develop self-confidence and experience a productive summer. $13,950
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society Alpha Nu Omega Chapter Award Funding will support conference travel for students in PTK and membership assistance for students who need financial assistance. Funding permits high-performing students access to opportunities they would not normally encounter.  $12,826.89
Textbook Fund Funding will support the establishment of a textbook library at HACC’s Lebanon Campus. The library will provide students access to the most in-demand and expensive textbooks required for their coursework at no cost to them. $5,000
Gettysburg Dual Enrollment Excellence Fund Funding will support 11 dual-enrolled students. $2,475
Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Business Club National Conference Funding will support transportation, lodging and meals for four PBL students and an advisor to attend the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas.  $2,075.53

HACC Foundation Appoints New Board Members
HARRISBURG, Pa. – The HACC Foundation, a nonprofit educational trust established to raise private and corporate revenues in support of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, welcomed four new board members to the HACC Foundation Board.

Jamie Berrier is the president of RSR Realtors has worked for more than 20 years in the real estate industry. She holds an associate degree in business administration from HACC and a bachelor’s degree in information systems from Penn State University. The HACC alumna joined the Board for the opportunity to promote the value and benefits that HACC has to offer to members of the community.
 
La-Verna Fountain retired as the vice president for strategic communications and construction business initiatives from Columbia University. The HACC alumna served as a military police specialist in the U.S. Army until 1978, when she received an honorable discharge. She holds multiple credentials, including a master’s degree in negotiation and conflict resolution from Columbia University, a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Penn State University and an associate degree in police administration from HACC.
 
Tuan-Linh Nguyen formerly served as the chromatography and laboratory chemicals sales specialist for VWR International, LLC. The HACC alumnus serves on many organizations, including the HACC Alumni Council. Nguyen holds a bachelor’s degree in natural science/mathematics from Thomas Edison State College and two associate degrees in communications and the arts and life science from HACC.
 
Aaysha Noor serves as president of Asian American Pakistani Heritage. She strongly believes education should be accessible and inclusive, and supports HACC and the HACC Foundation’s push for inclusion and diversity. Noor holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of Home Economics and a professional diploma from the National College of Arts. She is currently active in many organizations, including Race Against Racism of YWCA Greater Harrisburg.
