2008 Kids’ College

Summer Enrichment Program
Week 1 - Lancaster Campus - June 16-19, 2008; grades 3-8
Week 2 - Harrisburg Campus - June 23-26, 2008; grades 3-5

Participants are introduced to the college-level learning environment and can choose courses based on their interests. Cost for 4-day session is $75.

 

Arts (Graphic Design, Wearable Art, Cartoons to Comic Strips)
General Interest (No-Cook Chef, My Computer, Sign It
Math (Creative Construction, EM is for Edible Math, Money Matters)
Science (Chemistry Concoctions, Energy Force and Motion, Optical Illusion)

 

Career Kaleidoscope
Grades 6-8

June 23-26, 2008; 9 a.m.-noon, Harrisburg Campus ONLY

The Hospitality and Tourism profession is one of the oldest industries in the world - serving people who travel away from home. This session will give participants an overview of this exciting, challenging career field. Cost for 4-day session is $75.

Day 3 - Travel & Tourism
Day 4 - Hotel Management

Academy I - July 21-24, 2008

This program teaches the basics of screenwriting, storyboarding, acting, direction, production design and film editing techniques. *Academy I is a prerequisite for attending Academy II. $195.

Culinary Boot Camp
Parent/ONE Child

July 29-Aug. 7, 2008 - 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Lancaster Campus

You and your child can find out what really happens in the kitchen as you learn about kitchen safety, proper food handling, food preparation and cooking and baking techniques and more. Sessions are 4 consecutive Thursdays. $195.

Kids in the Kitchen/Back to School
Ages 9-17

Aug. 9, 2008 - 9 a.m.-noon, Lancaster Campus

Before heading back to class, this one-session class will teach you how easy it is to create and prepare back-to-school meals. $35.

School of Rock
Ages 12-17

July 14-17, 2008 - 1-4 p.m., Lancaster Campus

Aspiring guitar players can learn basic chords and popular riffs, as well as make new friends and find out about the rock band life. $80.

Way Cool Wednesday: Astronomy
Ages 8-12

July 9-30, 2008 - 8-10 p.m., Harrisburg Campus

Join us for an educational journey as we explore the many aspects of space, the equipment used to observe planets, what astronauts do and more. Meets 4 consecutive Wednesdays. $70.

Theatre for Young People Summer Camps
Ages 5-18

Harrisburg Campus

HACC’s Theatre for Young People is hosting 2008 Summer Theatre Camps, with many areas of interest including acting, improvisation, Musical Theatre, Hip-Hop/Jazz Dance, puppetry, design and performance. More than 200 young people from the Harrisburg area participate in the 2008 summer program, which offers 13 different camps in two theatres, costume and scene shops, dance/movement studio and makeup labs. Classes are taught by professionals, and class size is small. Registration is on an as-available basis. You can see the brochure or call 780-2521, Ext. 4.

Ultimate Spin Basketball Camp
Ages 9-15

The Ultimate Spin is the spin you put on your life. Learn about health lifestyle choices while you learn about basketball from some of the best -- Harrisburg native Chris Franklin (“Mr. Handles”), Arnold Bernard (“A Train”) and Luis Da Dilva (“Trikz”). An Entrepreneurial Adventure for Grades 5-8

June 23-26, 2008 - 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Harrisburg Campus

Learn the ins and outs of starting a business from the ground up. Over 4 days, participants will focus on identifying a business concept, selecting a board or advisory team, developing a product or service, marketing and promoting your business, and tracking your success. $75.
