HACC to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -
 
WHO: HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College
WHAT: Events celebrating the life and legacy of the late Martin Luther King Jr., American civil rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner
WHEN: Virtual events will be held at various times Jan. 19-22, 2021.
WHERE: All listed events can be accessed virtually.
COVERAGE: The public is invited to join the HACC community in celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at the following events.
  • HACC is closed in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 18, 2021.
     
  • “I Have A Dream” – Jan. 19, 2021, at noon
    Edward Champ Hall of Lancaster, a motivational speaker, will present a reenactment of King’s speech delivered during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963. Sponsored by HACC’s Student Involvement Department.

  • Be the Change – Jan. 20, 2021, at noon
    Young activists and best friends, Arlette Morales and Tzipporah Goins, led a peaceful demonstration in York City’s Continental Square on June 2, 2020, as protesters took to the streets for a second consecutive day. Emotions continued to boil over the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25 and the state of policing in America. Morales and Goins will speak about this event and how to get involved and engaged in the community. Sponsored by HACC’s Student Involvement Department.
