HACC Foundation Awards Scholarships to Over 500 Students

HARRISBURG, Pa – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, congratulates the more than 500 HACC Foundation scholarship recipients for the 2020-21 academic year.

Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, the vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation, said, “The global pandemic has financially wrecked the lives of many HACC students. They have lost their jobs and homes. In some cases, they have lost their loved ones. For many of them, HACC is the Ellis Island of higher education – a place they can get a new lease on life and fresh start. Scholarships from our generous donors help our students to transition from the despair of losing jobs, homes and loved ones to hope for the future. HACC students know that HACC employees care about them. They now know that philanthropists, community leaders and business leaders also care about them – as demonstrated by their generous charitable contributions.”

A former scholarship recipient,
Derek Eberly, said, “Scholarships represent one of the only viable options for the modern student to move forward and get ahead in the short term without being held back by crippling debt in the long term.”
