Not Too Late for HACC’s Late-Start Classes
Many students across Central Pennsylvania will return to HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, on Jan. 19, 2016, for the start of their spring term. For those who have recently decided they would like to register, it is not too late. HACC offers late-start classes – beginning Feb. 1 – with registration open now.
Through flexible start times, child care availability, online classes and more, HACC provides an opportunity for traditional and non-traditional students, like Denice Austeel, to continue their education.
Austeel, a single working mother in her forties, registered at HACC because of the flexibility and convenience of class times.
“I've taken several Virtual Learning courses, which enabled me to work while taking classes,” said Austeel. “Also, HACC is much more affordable than other local institutions, and that is a huge contributing factor for a single working mother.”
Financial aid can be applied to late-start classes if eligible. However, processing time may vary.
For additional information about HACC’s late-start classes, visit hacc.edu/NotTooLate or contact a campus Welcome Center.

HACC’s Rose Lehrman Art Gallery Presents Rita Bernstein’s ‘Consequences’
An exhibition of photographs by Rita Bernstein will be on display in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, from Feb. 19 through April 1, 2016.
A lecture will be held on Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. in Whitaker Hall 214. The lecture, led by Bernstein, will be followed by a reception in the gallery from 6-7:30 p.m.
Bernstein’s images are varied “snapshots” created by applying liquid silver emulsion to delicate Japanese gampi paper. The process demands a high level of skill yet remains uncertain and unexpected. With the fragility of the paper, it is difficult to produce a flawless print or make a print that is identical to an earlier one.
Bernstein’s exhibitions have been reviewed in many publications, including Black and White, The Boston Globe, Lenswork, The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Photo Review.
Rose Lehrman Art Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. or by appointment. For more information, please contact Shawn Williams at email@example.com or 717-780-2478 and visit the gallery on HACC’s website and on Facebook.
The Rose Lehrman Art Gallery receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the commonwealth, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Bridging Cultural Divides through Dance at HACC’s Live at Rose Lehrman
The Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO), nationally celebrated for its innovation and preservation of predominantly African-American traditions in dance, will perform at Live at Rose Lehrman on Feb. 17, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
Founded in 1970 by Joan Myers Brown, PHILADANCO has a legacy of breaking barriers and building bridges across cultural divides in the world of dance and everyday life.
Brown was presented the 2012 National Medal of the Arts, the nation's highest civic honor for excellence in the arts, in July 2013 at the White House. President Barack Obama cited Brown for carving out "an artistic haven for African-American dancers and choreographers to innovate, create and share their unique visions with the national and global dance communities."
Established on principles of providing opportunity, inclusion and hope, PHILADANCO will provide an evening of dance to inspire.
Sponsors include the Brenner Family of Dealerships, Farrell Plastic Surgery and Laser Center, the HACC Foundation and HACC’s Student Government Association. The media sponsors are Urban Connection and abc27.
Limited seating is available. Tickets are $40 or $34 depending on seating location and can be purchased online at www.LiveatRoseLehrman.org. For more information, call 717-231-ROSE (7673).
