HACC Names Fall 2018 Grads, Issues Dean’s List and More

HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, shares recent news, including:  
More Than 900 Students Graduate from HACC in Fall 2018
HARRISBURG, Pa. – More than 900 students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, completed their associate degrees, certificates or diplomas during the fall 2018 term.

Graduates of all ages and backgrounds, including a grandmother, married couple and a student from China, were celebrated during Commencement on Dec. 18, 2018, at the Giant Center in Hershey.

During the ceremony, faculty speaker Rosalina Beard, shared her speech in Spanish and English and said, “As you leave HACC, I encourage you to take concrete actions to embrace diversity. Learn a second language. Get to know your neighbors and colleagues. Find out how you are different, and how you are the same.”

Following Beard, student speaker Alexa Taylor Groft challenged her fellow graduates to “use the power of education to make your mark on this world! The success you celebrate here tonight is not final, let it be the spark that ignites a flame to shine forever and light up the world.”

HACC Announces Fall 2018 Dean’s List
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, has named 1,509 students to the fall 2018 full-time dean’s list.
The full-time dean’s list, which is available online, recognizes students who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher in college-level classes and completed a minimum of 12 credits during the fall 2018 term.

HACC’s Gettysburg Campus Offers Free Activities to EMBRACE Diversity, Inclusion
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg Campus Diversity Committee of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is hosting a series of free community events this spring 2019 to help us EMBRACE (Educate, Model, Broaden, Respect, Accept, Connect, Empathize) our diversity!

Marc Petrovic Brings Glass Art to HACC
HARRISBURG, Pa. - Sculptures by glass artist Marc Petrovic will be on display Feb. 25-March 21, 2019, in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
The artist will discuss his work March 21 at 5:30 p.m. in Whitaker Hall, Room 214, with a reception immediately following in the gallery. The reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.
Petrovic’s work can be seen in numerous collections, including at the Museum of Art and Design in New York, New York; the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York; and the Tacoma Glass Museum in Tacoma, Washington.
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, Petrovic maintained a full-time studio practice for 23 years before serving as the Chair of Glass at the institute from 2014-17. He has since returned to full-time studio practice in Cleveland.

The gallery received state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and from the National Endowment for the Arts.
