Christopher Blaise of York, father of seven and grandfather of nine, files in with the fall 2012 graduating class at HACC’s commencement ceremony, held Saturday at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. Blaise was injured in a work-related accident that left him a paraplegic. He returned to college at age 58 and received his associate degree in business management. Blaise plans to transfer to a four-year college or university and pursue pre-law.

NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award 2012- Shelly Blanchette
Shelly Blanchette, assistant professor in counseling at HACC’s York Campus, will be recognized with the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence in Teaching Award at NISOD’s annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, held at the Austin Convention Center, Austin, Texas, May 27-30.
Second place team - High School Math Contest 2012
The team from Hempfield High School placed second in HACC’s 22nd annual mathematics contest held recently through an interactive video link at the college’s Harrisburg, Lancaster and York campuses. From left at the Lancaster Campus are sophomore Adam Karl, junior John Grosh and senior Bryan Yoder, who also placed fifth in the individual overall score. This year 21 area high schools competed.
