Info sessions in fall 2009 will help students get started

Harrisburg, PA – If starting on the path to a college degree is in your future, HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, can help you get there – right in your own backyard in Juniata and Mifflin counties.

HACC’s expanded services to residents in the two counties will continue in spring 2010 with eight entry-level courses offered in the evenings in Mifflintown and Lewistown.

All potential students and members of the public are invited to attend either or both of the upcoming information sessions, which are scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, in the auditorium at Lewistown Area High School and 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, in the auditorium at Juniata High School.

Courses will be offered in the evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with classes held Jan. 13-May 14, 2010. Students can register for these courses beginning Nov. 2.

Students attending classes at Mifflintown can choose English Essentials, English Composition I, Introduction to Sociology and Small Business Development and Management. Those who plan to attend classes at Lewistown, can choose Intermediate Algebra, Strategy-Based Reading III, Introduction to Software for Business and Principles of Mathematics.

Students whose applications and qualifications meet HACC requirements can take advantage of the opportunity to earn college credits by enrolling in any of these eight courses.

Potential students including high school juniors and seniors can find more detailed information about these programs and about attending HACC by calling (717) 221-1781. See spring class schedule

In addition, HACC is accepting applications from qualified instructors to teach the courses. Anyone who is interested in applying should contact Elaine Holland at 1-800-ABC-HACC (1-800-222-4222), ext. 1158.
