The legendary Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to Live at Rose Lehrman

Paul Taylor Dance CompanyHARRISBURG - Internationally renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
The “intelligent, stylish and physically magnificent” (New York magazine) Paul Taylor Dance Company has performed in 60 countries and more than 450 cities. Taylor’s “imaginative choreography, rare sense of beauty and superb musicality—not to mention the brilliance of his dancers—are beyond compare. The American spirit soars whenever Taylor’s dancers dance.” (The San Francisco Chronicle).
Julliard-trained Paul Taylor was a soloist with the Martha Graham Dance Company in 1955 for seven years while continuing to choreograph his own troupe. In 1966 the Paul Taylor Dance Foundation was created to help Taylor bring his works to the largest possible audience, facilitate his ability to make new dances and preserve his growing repertoire.
The Live at Rose Lehrman program will feature the Paul Taylor Dance Company in “Roses,” described by The New York Times as “beautiful in its visual effects, poetic in its natural flow of movement.” The evening program will also include “Three Dubious Memories,” Taylor’s newest work, which explores the subjective nature of memory. It dramatically illustrates that events may be recalled differently by various participants, each of whom believes in the accuracy of their own version. “The mind remembers facts the way it wants them to be,” said Taylor of the composition. “Brandenburgs”will complete the evening.
Live at Rose Lehrman offers  patrons a dinner and a show package at the C. Ted Lick Wildwood Conference Center with seating at 5:45 p.m. The menu includes: tossed salad, Chicken Oscar (vegetarian option is available), grilled asparagus, roasted red-skinned potatoes, and bon-bons for dessert. Music selections by Billy Wray of Billy Wray Music Shop. The deadline for dinner reservations is Friday, Oct. 7.
This tour of The Paul Taylor Dance Company is made possible by a grant from Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with the support from the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional support for this Live at Rose Lehrman event comes from the Lois Lehrman Grass Foundation, The HACC Foundation, and the C. Ted Lick Wildwood Conference Center. The Media Sponsors for the event are Susquehanna Style Magazine and WHTM-TV abc27.
A post-show talkback with the dance company will take place immediately following the show.
Tickets for this performance are $35 for adults, $33 senior citizens, $15 students, $60 for the Dinner and a Show Package (limited seating available for this dinner/show package), and $45 for the Student Dinner and a Show Package.  Live at Rose Lehrman Box Office phone is 717-231-ROSE (7673).
