HACC’s Lancaster Campus wins ‘Who's Who’ Award

Chosen by readers of Susquehanna Style magazine

LANCASTER – HACC’s Lancaster Campus received the “Who’s Who in Business Lancaster Award” in the category of Lancaster's Leader in Continuing/Adult Education & Degrees from Susquehanna Style magazine. Campus Vice President L. Marshall Washington, Ph.D., collected the award earlier this month at the Lancaster Marriott.
The award was given to HACC in recognition of the college as an option for adult education in the area and for providing a foundation for the transition from secondary to post-secondary education, Washington said.
“We have been here 20-plus years and people do recognize us as a standing force. If we were to disappear, there would be a gap in terms of the ability to earn an associate degree and attain job training skills,” he said. “I feel really proud that community members are recognizing HACC as able to fulfill a unique role in the Lancaster area.”
The survey is designed to identify and recognize business leaders in three Susquehanna markets – greater Lancaster, Harrisburg and York. The Polk-Lepson Research Group, an independent market research firm, was contacted to conduct an objective, statistically sound survey of the region's residents and business community with ages 35 to 66 represented in proportion to the population.
The survey, done in fall 2011, asked the question, “Who do you perceive to be a leader in the area of adult education?” according to Sue Ottenheimer, senior account executive with Susquehanna Style magazine.
“Absolutely it’s an honor to be chosen. It’s public perception; that means a lot,” Ottenheimer said.
