First Graduating Class of HACC’s Nurse Aide Program at SACA Tec Centro

First Graduating Class of HACC’s Nurse Aide Program at SACA Tec Centro

(LANCASTER, Pa.) – The nurse aide program on the Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will be graduating its first class from the Spanish American Civic Association’s (SACA) new training facility (Tec Centro) on May 21, 2014.

Tec Centro opened its doors to the Hispanic community on Feb. 6, 2014.  The eight students enrolled in HACC’s nurse aide training program began with the program’s prerequisite modules, including a customer service module provided by SACA and a 59-hour bilingual healthcare pre-course module taught by HACC, on March 17, 2014, followed by the HACC Nurse Aide Program itself from April 24 to May 21, 2014.

Presentation of certificates of completion/graduation of the first HACC Nurse Aide Program will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at SACA Tec Centro, 102 Chester Street, Lancaster.

SACA is instrumental in helping the Hispanic population increase their job skills and obtain employment in today’s demanding market.  A large part of SACA’s vision became reality after the Tec Centro building was renovated to house classrooms and space was provided for skills training programs via a collaboration with HACC Workforce Development to offer programs such as nurse aide training, medical receptionist, culinary, construction and machine operator, among other future programs.

HACC Workforce Development has been collaborating with SACA for almost five years to bring bilingual skills training to the Lancaster Hispanic community.
